Edited People are a quirky and alternative pop band based in the city of Leeds. During the Coronavirus pandemic, the group are showcasing their talents in ways that support the digitally-hooked society that we live in. Band members include lead vocalist, Alisha, bassist Thomas, and Josh on the guitar.
The band members first met at Leeds College of Music, where they spent years honing their craft as musicians.

Editorial People have a very modern, punky and electronic style. Our favourite song of theirs is titled ‘Natural Disaster’. The single conversates insecurities and feeling as if you are ‘not enough’. The single also touches on the desire to change who you are to meet the expectations of others, and how this is dangerous.
With a target audience predominantly made up of teenage girls, this song holds a powerful message that will inspire its listeners to be their authentic selves, regardless of societal expectations.

Performing together since 2018, the band’s typical schedule involved performing live shows on a regular basis. This was soon put on hold with the influx of Coronavirus cases, as the UK was put into its first lockdown in March 2020. Since then, the band have had to recollect new ways to engage with their audience. In April 2021, Edited People reflect on the ways the pandemic has impacted their career as musicians for the better, although their journey has been challenging. A question that Edited People asked themselves during the first lockdown, was “How do you create content when you’re sat at home all day?” Many creatives will resonate with this question, when being pushed out of their comfort zone, and being stripped from the life they once considered ‘normal’. The band rely heavily on social media platforms as a driving force to engage with their audience and publish music-based content.
With a following of over 1,530 on Instagram alone, Edited People keep fans engaged with their latest music, as well as producing weekly song covers that feature popular hits such as KSI’s latest single, Patience, featuring Yungblud and Polo G; which in turn has helped the band connect with wider audiences. Being a small band, Edited People are extremely self-aware of the competitive industry in which they wish to progress in, admitting how the “over saturated” music industry makes it difficult to attract audiences; with this, comes a whole lot of pressure to stand out against other musicians, yet the band are confident that their music deserves to be heavily recognised in the industry, and The Humanity Journal agree!
